What this site is, and is not

This is an informational resource. It explains the category of free-to-play online games, sets out the practical questions worth asking before you sign up, and points to the Australian bodies that can help when something goes wrong. It is not the official site of any game or game publisher, it is not a news outlet, and it does not publish personal reviews, reader stories or ratings. Where content is written under a name at all, it is the Corvus Digital editorial team; we do not invent authors, staff profiles or credentials.

How we decide what to cover, and in what order

We are deliberately narrow, and we would rather say so than imply a breadth we do not have. Coverage is limited to a small number of games in the free-to-play online category, chosen because we can describe them accurately and because they are relevant to a reader in Australia. Some of the games we cover — including World of Tanks — are ones with which we have a commercial affiliate relationship. That relationship funds the site.

Being funded that way places an obligation on us to be honest about its limits, so here is exactly how it works. The commercial relationship does not decide the order in which games appear, does not buy a more favourable description, and does not change the facts we state. A commission is paid only if a reader chooses to sign up through one of our links, and the same words would appear on the page whether or not that ever happens. What actually determines our coverage is threefold: whether a subject is relevant to a reader in Australia, whether we can state something about it accurately, and whether any claim can be traced to a source we can name. Where a fact comes from a vendor, we attribute it to the vendor. Where it concerns your rights or your safety, we link to the Australian authority that sets the position.

How we handle claims

Under the Australian Consumer Law, misleading or deceptive conduct in trade is enforceable against the publisher, not only the advertiser. We treat every statement on this site as one we must be able to defend. In practice that means we prefer to under-claim: if a fact is not established, we say it is not stated rather than fill the gap. Product details about a specific game come from that vendor’s own material and are attributed to it. General points about safety, classification, privacy and consumer rights are linked to the relevant Australian body.

How we are funded, in one line
